Galveston Weekend - Railroad Museum

On Sunday after playing on the hill we headed over to the Railroad museum.  I had been told this was a really cool museum so we made sure to visit.  We missed Santa by one day but realized we were not at the rail-RAD museum.

In the station there were all these statues to look like the late 20s and 30s.  This one statue looked like she was actually watching James and Finn (otherwise known as Frick & Frack).

There was even a photographer working on a very long exposure...

Denise was busy talking on the phone with Santa.

The rail cars outside are not really blocked off like the flight museum.  You can pretty much go anywhere on any of the trains.  Be careful though there is lots of rusty metal, nails and creepy rooms to wander into. Steven and I decided to do a little ghostly images in the postal car.  Some of these cars would just give you such a creepy feeling.

Look for the ghosts in the next two images.

One of the cars was a little more modern but for some reason we didn't want to go through it.  The kids were real strange and the hair was standing on my neck.  I took this image then got the heck out of there.  I didn't even want to look behind me.

There were three big engines on the tracks.  This was one of the big Yellow Rose engines.

Then there was the famous 555 engine.

You could walk through the middle of these tracks and just take tons of great images.  The size of these machines is awesome.

Whitney and I found a really old caboose.  It was super creepy so we treaded lightly.  Whitney walked to the end of the car and turned around.  She froze in her tracks and just stared at the ceiling.  Eventually she ran back to me and we quickly left. This is one of my favorite images

While Denise ran off to find James, I watched Whitney play on the tracks.  She loves the movie Polar Express where the kids walk on the tracks in the North Pole.

She had a really good time playing at the railroad museum.

James was all over place.  He disappeared for a while but we caught up with him.  He was angry because he thought we lost him.  He loved climbing into the big engine and pulling the bell rope.

Being cool on the train.

Playing on the trains was a lot of fun but we were ready to get home.  This was one of my last images I took of the weekend.  Finn was throwing a rock in the air waiting to leave.

We were glad Farrah and her crew joined us this weekend.  It was a lot of fun!
