Sterling and Gustavo

Back in January Farrah and I busted out another Johnston wedding that was totally rockin.   This time Sterling was gettin hitched in her family's home.  The scene was beautiful with lots of friends, family and candles!

Before the wedding Gustavo and I grabbed a few portraits.  He is a great guy and had a wonderful family!

Like Moran's wedding we got down and dirty with a photo booth.  These kids got into it and enjoyed every flash!  These are my two favorites!

We had a great time Sterling!  Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

Megan + Phillip Got Hooked Up.

Last weekend Farrah and I headed downtown to photograph Megan and Phillip's wedding day.  The weather was beautiful and the party was a lot of fun!  One of the first things I do when I get to the church is find the groom and find the ring.  This usually results in the groomsmen getting together looking for the ring.  Unbeknownst to everyone else, I am just trying to get all the guys together in one place.

Unfortunately for Phillip when he opened the box there was no ring.  The look of concern was not something I had the heart to photograph.  After a few phone calls and bag searches we found the ring and we were able to get the first ring shot of the day.

The wedding was at the Christ Co-Cathedral Church downtown.  This is not an easy shot to take since I have to stand in the middle of a busy street to get the whole church.  Look at that awesome sky!  It was so crisp and cool too.

I headed back to the girls and grabbed a few of the dress prep.  Megan was in great spirits and was probably one of the calmest brides I have encountered.

Phillip was pretty excited about the whole event.  The church was packed with people that were busy guarding any exits (just kidding).

These two little flower girls were very sweet.

After the wedding we gathered outside for a few more shots and piled into the limo for the reception.

I went with the wedding party in the limo.  I had to do a little Jedi mind trick on the driver to let me sit in the front seat.  He was reluctant but realized we were not discussing it, I was riding in the front with him.

The reception was at the Majestic Metro.  Around the corner is a neat little alley where we originally took Megan and Phillips engagement portrait.  These types of portraits can really only be done with two photographers.

Phillip and his best man reminiscing about the days before marriage....

The Majestic Metro was all gussied up for the event.  I snuck up to the balcony to take this image.  The DJ and his posse were a little reluctant to let me hang over the edge but again I used my Jedi mind powers of persuasion.

The ever popular Better Together portrait with the bride and groom.

After we watched the kids party the day away, we had about an hour left before sunset.  We hustled over to their hotel at the Magnolia and headed to the roof for a little sexy time sunset portraits.

At last the couple was married and partied out.

Oh and I think they were tired of us taking their photo too.

Farrah and I give each other little assignments during our weddings. We decided that we had to come up with a series of images that were "Sweet."  Right before we left the rooftop Megan was busy showing us how she could touch her tongue to her nose.  By the look on Phillips face I could tell all he was thinking that was "SCHAWEEEEET!"

And then a last minute sunset of the H-Town skyline.

So that ends another awesome rocked out wedding by the BT crew.  We hope Megan and Phillip love their little sneak peaks.  To check out what Farrah captured head on over to her blog and be sure to leave comments!

Megan and Phillip - Get'n Hitched Saturday

Tomorrow the rockin crew of Better Together (Danny and Farrah) will be photographing Megan Barr's wedding day.  I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty good party.  They have gone out of their way to make sure this party doesn't get out of hand.  Sounds like a Clark family get together to me...

Phillip and Megan are having their reception at the Majestic Metro downtown.  If your not familiar with this local, it is an old theater that hosts parties.   In front and inside, the Majestic has old movie poster containers that you can display photos.  In the ever popular Better Together style we had to step it up a notch and do something cool for the party.  I created these four posters with images that Farrah and I took of the happy couples engagement and bridal portraits.  I kept the design a secret until Megan could see them in person. Megan came by yesterday to pick everything up and was very excited about her posters.  I think she said "Oh my friends are going to think these are the coolest!"  That is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.

Below are small version of the posters.  They are actually printed individually as 24X36 inch posters so the small digital image does not do this justice.

So keep an eye out here and over on Farrah's blog for updates from this PAR-T.  It is sure to be a lot of fun.

Not your every day Bridal Portrait

A couple weeks ago Farrah and I photographed Megan in her bridal gown.  Megan is the ideal bride, easy going and ready to get creative with photography.  Her wedding day is in a couple of weeks and we are pretty excited to shoot this wedding.  Here are a couple of my favorites from her session.

We kicked out the Jams in stormy weather right off the bat!

Quick snap of my partner in crime.  That little device Farrah is holding is called a meter.  Without it we would be better off painting than photographing.

Megan is getting married to Philip who was in the A&M Core.  We grabbed a few with her wearing his boots.  The boots have been handed down for generations so this is sort of a big deal.

Keep tuned here for some more wacky stuff from the wedding!

Jason and Moran

Saturday Farrah and I photographed Jason and Moran's Party of Love! We had an absolute blast hanging out with this family.  Recently we were inspired by those kids in Cali from Image Is Found to setup a photo booth.  (Thanks for the inspiration guys).  We set things up towards the end of the night and captured the absolute core of this Par-T.  Check out the slide show below.

The happy couple.

The totally ridiculous slide show.

Meka + Mario

In November Farrah and I photographed Meka and Mario's wedding.  We are busy trying to get everything caught up from the last few weddings we photographed.  These kids threw a great party with the theme being KEWL.

Mario and his groomsmen were pretty cool to hang out with.  They were all real laid back and showed me a thing or two about being cool.

When the party started to wind down the guys all started smoking these big ol cee-gars.

There was smoke everywhere so I pulled out the wide angle toys and went to town.

They decorated the outside with the large glass vases full of giant sparklers.  It was an awesome sight seeing everyone with the things.  Mekas dad was playing with one out in the parking lot so I took this long exposure of LUV.

Be sure and check out my partner in crimes blog for more pictures of the wedding.

Megan and Phillip (and Linus too)

This afternoon Farrah and I photographed Megan and Phillip.  We are shooting their wedding in April at the Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral.  Today we played, April we will party!

First up was a stop at this totally spectacular church.  The weather was great and the sky was as blue as my baby girls eyes.

We played all over the place.

Megan likes her men tall.

This is the weather that people move to Houston for.

These kids are having their reception at the Majestic Metro downtown.  We hung out around there a bit until it just got a little too creepy.

McLovin my fish eye toys.

Giving the "sexy time" looks.

The Metro has air conditioning too.

After we had our fill of advice form people downtown we headed back to my studio and played some more outside.

We brought out the big man Linus too.  He was real interested in the cameras.

We had fun guys!  Hope you love your images.

Melissa & Chad

Before the crazy Holiday season Farrah and I photographed Melissa and Chads wedding at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral.  This is a pretty cool church but as always long fast lenses are helpful.  These were a few of my favorites form the ceremony.

These kids were not allowed to move around much.

The shoes say I'm classy but the feet say "MAN THESE SHOES HURT".

Before the wedding me and the guys took some portraits outside.  This church is in the middle of downtown right on a main street.  This guy came up to me and asked if I could take a picture of a picture.  I didn't know if he was a guest or not so I obliged.  Funny what people will ask you to do at a wedding.

The popular ring shot.  Its the expressions on the grooms face I love the most.

The reception was at the River Oaks Garden Club.  Denise and I looked there when we were getting married.  This is a very nice place when the weather is right.  These guys really lucked out that day.

Melissa and I hung out and took a few pictures in the window light.  She was having a really good time and looked beautiful.

The first dance is probably my favorite thing to photograph at the wedding.

When the wedding ended they pulled a truck around to gather up all the wedding loot.  God Bless Texas and big red trucks!

The party ended at the Garden Center but it continued on downtown.  These guys had a lot of fun and we wish them both all the best in their future.

Aichell & Christopher

A few weeks back Farrah Braniff and I had the honor of photographing Aichell and Christopher's wedding.

The wedding was at The Holy Rosary Catholic Church downtown.  This old church was pretty and the coolest thing was the organ player.  I hung out with her in the balcony waiting for the ever popular "first kiss".  The Organ player was quite interesting and had specific instructions on how close I could stand to her or her organ...  Oh and an organ is much louder in the balcony than on the floor of a church.

Chris was ready much earlier than his groomsmen but he helped get everyone around him.  Here he is helping one of his groomsmen fix his tie.

Chris was surrounded by a bunch of people that helped keep him entertained.  These two guys were a riot.  The guy on the left LOVED the camera and the one on the right was a little more subdued.

After we took a bunch of preliminary portraits I headed over to see what the girls were doing.  I told Whitney before I left that I would make sure and take a picture of the flower girls dresses.  This little flower girl was in another world with her little wedding dress and the huge mirror. I couldn't tell if she was pretending to hold a champaign glass, martini glass or a petite-four sandwich.

The wedding went down without a hitch and we headed over to the party.  The reception was held at The Gallery.  The Gallery is a very cool reception facility with lots of great places to take portraits.  Before the reception got started Aichell and Christopher were off in another part of the building having a little quiet time.  This is a good time for us to regroup with the bride an groom and get a few fun photos of the rings.

The party got kicked off and these people liked to dance.  Its fun to get right in the middle of people celebrating.  Lots of great energy in the room!

This little girl danced the night away.  Literally she was on the dance floor almost the entire night and man could that girl MOVE!

Occasionally the bride and groom will peal away for a few seconds to just enjoy a little quiet.  I grabbed a couple quick shots of the happy couple just before the evening ended.

Congratulations Aichell and Chris!  Thanks for letting Farrah and I be a part of your special day.
